Brigade, Battalions, Unit, Regiment???

Can someone please tell me the difference?

  1. A unit is 10-20 men. Battalion is usually 250-1000 men. Brigade is 2500-5000 men. I always thought regiment and brigade were inter-changeable. But idea is a number of units make up a company; a group of company's make up a battalion; a group of battalion's make up a brigade; group of brigade's make up a division.

Of course I've never been in the military so all this is my guess based on reading. I'm sure a former/current military personal could answer more exact.
